Tragic Incident at Nagpur Aviation Facility Claims Life of Security Guard

In a tragic event on October 4, a security guard lost his life and another was injured when an iron gate collapsed at an aviation facility in Nagpur, Maharashtra. The incident took place at Indemar Aviation’s aircraft maintenance project, situated near the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport, during the morning hours of Saturday.
The circumstances leading to the accident involved an aircraft that had been brought in for maintenance due to a technical issue. As the heavy iron gate was being opened to allow the aircraft inside, it unexpectedly collapsed, striking two security guards who were stationed nearby. At the time of the incident, six guards were present in the area.
Upon receiving reports of the accident, the Sonegaon police promptly arrived at the scene. Local workers assisted in lifting the fallen gate to free the trapped guards. Unfortunately, Kailas Pundalikrao Chaphekar, aged 46 and a resident of Deoli in Hingna, was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. The other injured guard, 25-year-old Abhishek Sukhdev Sangode from Kalamna, is currently receiving medical treatment.
Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident, registering a case of accidental death. This tragic occurrence raises concerns about safety protocols at aviation facilities, particularly regarding the maintenance and operation of heavy equipment.
