Thane Woman Arrested for Role in Husband's Murder Linked to Affair

Thane police have arrested a woman in connection with the murder of her husband, Gaurav Ragde, which occurred in Nagpur about six weeks ago. The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Deepali alias Bali Vijay Salunke, was apprehended after being on the run since the incident, which was reportedly triggered by her extramarital affair.

The couple, who had an intercaste love marriage eight months prior, began experiencing marital discord when Ragde discovered Deepali's relationship with another man, Rishikesh Khode. Following this revelation, Deepali left their home and started living separately. The situation escalated on August 20, when Ragde communicated with his father about resolving the dispute with Deepali and Khode, who were reportedly drinking with associates in Sundarban Layout.

On the afternoon of the incident, Ragde confronted Khode and his companions, leading to a violent altercation. According to statements from Ragde's father, the confrontation resulted in Khode and his associates attacking Ragde with a knife, allegedly incited by Deepali. Ragde sustained severe injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead shortly after arrival.

Following the murder, Deepali fled and remained in hiding until her arrest on Saturday in Thane. During police questioning, she reportedly confessed to her involvement in the crime, as confirmed by Sailesh Salvi, a senior police inspector from the Thane Crime Branch Anti-Extortion Cell. She has since been transferred to the Beltarodi police station in Nagpur for further investigation.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the case, particularly regarding the whereabouts of Khode and his associates, who remain at large. The incident has raised concerns about domestic violence and the implications of extramarital affairs, prompting discussions on the need for community awareness and support systems for individuals in similar situations.
