Thane Police Arrest Woman in Nagpur Husband's Murder Case
Deepali Salunke, 29, was apprehended after two months of evasion following her husband's murder linked to her extramarital affair.
Deepali Salunke confessed to her involvement in the murder of her husband, Gaurav Ragde.
The incident stemmed from marital discord over her affair with Rishikesh Khode.
Ragde was fatally attacked during a confrontation on August 20, leading to his death.
A 29-year-old woman, Deepali alias Bali Vijay Salunke, was arrested by Thane police on Saturday, nearly two months after the murder of her husband, Gaurav Ragde, in Nagpur. The police confirmed that she was taken into custody following a period of hiding and has since been transferred to Nagpur authorities for further investigation.
The case emerged from a domestic dispute that escalated when Ragde, a 27-year-old autorickshaw driver from Ajni, discovered Deepali's alleged affair with Rishikesh Khode. The couple had entered into an inter-caste marriage about eight months prior to the incident but had been living separately for some time. On August 20, Ragde informed his father of his intention to confront Deepali and Khode regarding their relationship.
On the day of the incident, Ragde approached Khode and his associates, who were reportedly drinking at the time. A violent argument ensued around 5 PM, during which Ragde was attacked with a knife, allegedly at Deepali's instigation. He sustained severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Deepali, who resided on Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Road in Thane, fled the scene following the incident. Senior police inspector Sailesh Salvi from the Thane Crime Branch stated that during interrogation, Deepali admitted her involvement in the crime. However, details regarding the other individuals implicated in the attack remain unclear as investigations continue.
The arrest of Deepali marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation into Gaurav Ragde's murder. Authorities are now focusing on gathering more evidence and identifying any additional suspects connected to the case, as they seek to bring justice to the victim's family and community.
