Tarun Shrivastava Appointed Regional Grand Master-Designate
Nagpur's Tarun Shrivastava will take on the role of Regional Grand Master-designate for RGLWI starting in 2027.
Tarun Shrivastava named Regional Grand Master-designate of RGLWI.
He will succeed Subhash L Saraf and is the fourth from Nagpur to hold this position.
Shrivastava has a rich history in Freemasonry, contributing significantly over nearly three decades.
In a significant development for the Freemason community, Tarun Shrivastava from Nagpur has been appointed as the Regional Grand Master-designate of the Regional Grand Lodge of Western India (RGLWI). This announcement was made during a special meeting held in Raipur on October 3, 2023, by MW Bro G K Selvarajan, the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of India. Shrivastava's term will commence in 2027, succeeding RW Bro Subhash L Saraf, marking him as the fourth individual from Nagpur to assume this prestigious role.
Freemasonry, with roots tracing back nearly a millennium, has evolved significantly since its documented origins in England during the early 1700s. The British expansion led to the establishment of Masonic lodges worldwide, including in India. The RGLWI operates under the Grand Lodge of India, while other Masonic organizations, such as those following Scottish and English constitutions, function independently within the country.
Tarun Shrivastava's journey in Freemasonry began on June 21, 1998, when he was initiated into Lodge Trimurty No. 294 in Nagpur. He became the Worshipful Master of the lodge in 2005 and currently serves as the Deputy Regional Grand Master of RGLWI, as well as the Second Principal of the Regional Grand Chapter of Western India. His contributions to the Masonic community include editing 'The Ashlar,' a publication focused on Masonic education, and serving as a tutor for the Grand Lodge of India. Notably, he has initiated over 50 individuals into Freemasonry and has played a pivotal role in establishing Mark Master Mason and Royal Ark Mariner lodges.
Beyond his Masonic endeavors, Shrivastava has also been involved in community service, notably leading the Panchvati Vrudha Ashram project, which provides support for the elderly in Nagpur. This initiative was funded by Lodge Fellowship No. 140 from Ahmedabad. His dedication to Freemasonry has been recognized through various honors, including the Long-Term Service Jewels in Craft, Chapter, and Mark, with the latest award presented to him in Raipur on October 3.
Looking ahead, Shrivastava's upcoming term as Regional Grand Master promises to continue his legacy of service and leadership within the Freemason community. As he prepares to take on this role, his extensive experience and commitment to the principles of Freemasonry will likely influence the direction of RGLWI in the coming years.
