In preparation for the upcoming Dhammachakra Pravartan Din, the Central Railway has announced the operation of seven special trains from Nagpur, scheduled to run from October 18 to 22. This initiative is designed to accommodate the expected influx of around 50,000 devotees traveling to Deekshabhoomi for the annual celebrations.
The Nagpur Division of Central Railway revealed that these special train services will include a total of 24 trips, with a significant operational enhancement planned for October 19, 20, and 21. During these days, a 10-hour block will be implemented at Nagpur and Ajni railway stations to improve passenger handling and operational efficiency, ensuring a smoother travel experience for attendees.
Trains departing from Nagpur will primarily operate from Platforms 7 and 8, with services including routes to Pune, Nashik, CSMT, Akola, Bhusawal, and Solapur. Each long-distance special train is estimated to carry between 1,100 and 1,400 passengers, indicating that the 24 trips could potentially accommodate up to 30,000 confirmed ticket holders. This surge in passenger movement is expected to impact services across both Central Railway and South East Central Railway, particularly affecting connections to various regions.
Travel agents in Nagpur have reported that ticket prices on routes to Mumbai and Pune have stabilized due to the additional train capacity. This is a positive development for travelers, as it alleviates concerns regarding fare hikes during peak travel times. The railway authorities have also encouraged passengers to stay informed about their train statuses through the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) or by contacting the helpline at 139 prior to their journey.
As the date approaches, the railway administration is focused on ensuring that the heavy passenger rush associated with Dhammachakra Pravartan Din is managed effectively, facilitating a seamless travel experience for all devotees heading to Deekshabhoomi.
