In a significant operation against drug trafficking, Sakardara police in Nagpur arrested Kunal Mhaiskar, a resident of Hinganghat, for possessing 20 grams of MD powder. The arrest occurred during a late-night patrol near Sakardara Lake Garden, where police noticed Mhaiskar acting suspiciously.
The incident unfolded when police officers observed Mhaiskar's unusual behavior near the Dattatraya Nagar Fire Brigade office. Upon noticing the approaching officers, he attempted to flee but was apprehended shortly thereafter. A search conducted in the presence of independent witnesses led to the recovery of the MD powder, along with a mobile phone and cash, bringing the total estimated value of the seized items to approximately ₹72,000.
Authorities suspect that Mhaiskar intended to sell the MD powder for financial gain. Initial investigations indicate that he transported the illicit substance from Hinganghat to Nagpur. Following the arrest, police registered a case against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The police are currently focused on tracing the source of the MD powder and identifying the supplier who allegedly provided it to Mhaiskar. Moving forward, police will continue their investigations into the drug supply network, aiming to dismantle the operations that facilitate such illegal activities. Further updates are expected as the inquiry progresses, and the police have urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking.
