In a notable shift from its customary Vijayadashami celebrations, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is set to hold nine simultaneous marches across Nagpur on Sunday evening. These grand processions are expected to draw nearly 10,000 swayamsevaks, marking the conclusion of the organization's centenary celebrations. The marches are scheduled to commence at 7 PM, with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat participating in one of the processions at Baba Buddhaji Nagar near gurdwara Khalsa Gate at 7:30 PM.
Traditionally, the RSS has held its marches on Vijayadashami morning, starting from Reshimbagh. However, this year, the organization has opted to move the processions to the evening, allowing for a more expansive celebration. Each of the nine marches will cover all 12 organizational divisions (bhags) of Nagpur, with some divisions collaborating for combined processions based on participation levels.
The marches will initiate from various locations, including Kachhi Visa Maidan in Mohite Bhag, Chitnis Park in Itwari, and grounds in Lalganj-Binaki-Sadar, Gittikhadan-Dharampeth, Trimurti Nagar, Somalwada, Ajni, Ayodhya Bhag, and Shrikrishna Nagar. Each route will span an average distance of 2.75 kilometers, with the processions returning to their respective starting points after traversing designated neighborhood routes.
The culmination of these events will lead to the annual Vijayadashami program at Reshimbagh on Tuesday, where RSS chief Bhagwat will deliver his traditional address. The event will also feature Sanjay Gupta, the editor-in-chief of Dainik Jagran, as the chief guest, further emphasizing the significance of this year's celebrations.
Looking ahead, the RSS aims to strengthen its community engagement through these marches, which not only celebrate its centenary but also reinforce its presence in the region. The upcoming Vijayadashami program is anticipated to attract significant attention, highlighting the organization's ongoing influence in Nagpur and beyond.
