The RSS chief calls for greater discernment among youth regarding information consumption.
During the annual Vijayadashami Utsav in Nagpur, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat expressed concerns that India is the ultimate target of Western forces seeking regime change. He warned that protests could be manipulated for political interests, potentially exacerbating societal divisions instead of resolving issues.
Bhagwat referenced recent civil unrest in countries such as Bangladesh, Nepal, France, and Albania, suggesting that these upheavals are often exploited by external forces to alter political landscapes. He stated, "They claim that changing a regime will change the situation, but that has never really happened," highlighting the futility of such interventions.
The RSS leader asserted that a robust India would deter these external influences, making it a target for efforts aimed at weakening and dividing the nation. He noted that while some global powers may support India's development, they simultaneously fear its rise as a formidable force that could challenge their dominance.
Addressing the role of protests in a democracy, Bhagwat emphasized that their goal should be to find solutions rather than deepen divisions. He cautioned that protests driven by motives other than public welfare could lead to hostility among different groups. He urged political leaders and activists to act responsibly to avoid creating societal rifts, stating, "However intense our emotions may be, we must respect the limits set by our Constitution."
In addition, Bhagwat called for increased discernment among the youth regarding the information they consume, particularly in light of the unchecked content on OTT platforms. He suggested that the government should consider regulations to protect society from the adverse effects of such content. He also highlighted the importance of balanced development that transcends mere materialism, warning against the dangers of drug addiction and the need for timely intervention from both the government and society to combat this issue.
