The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in Nagpur launched a significant campaign on October 21, 2026, at Deekshabhoomi, aimed at promoting financial inclusion and facilitating the re-KYC process. This initiative, directed by the Department of Financial Services under the Ministry of Finance, is set to continue until December 31, 2026. The campaign's primary objective is to enhance access to financial services and ensure that citizens are aware of the importance of updating their KYC information.
The inauguration was led by Shri Sachin Y Shende, the Regional Director of RBI, alongside key officials including Ms. Anjana Shyamnath and Shri Arup Patra. During the event, Shende emphasized the necessity of completing re-KYC to maintain uninterrupted banking services and highlighted the role of social security schemes in improving financial stability for beneficiaries. The campaign is strategically timed to coincide with Dhammachakra Pravartan Diwas, attracting a large audience to disseminate financial awareness effectively.
To maximize outreach, the campaign featured various informational displays and audio announcements regarding re-KYC and social security schemes. An LED screen at the RBI stall showcased messages aimed at educating visitors about financial services. Additionally, notebooks, pamphlets, and refreshments were distributed to attendees, further encouraging public participation and engagement with the campaign's objectives.
The initiative is expected to have a substantial impact on the local community in Nagpur, as it addresses critical issues of financial literacy and security. By providing resources and information, the RBI aims to empower citizens to take control of their financial futures and ensure they are adequately protected against digital fraud.
Looking ahead, the RBI encourages the public to complete their re-KYC processes during the campaign period by visiting their local bank branches or Business Correspondents. This proactive approach is essential for maintaining access to banking services and ensuring that individuals are fully informed about their financial rights and responsibilities.
