On Thursday, a feedback session at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Itwari station revealed significant passenger concerns, with 23 issues highlighted, including delays in passenger trains and insufficient porter services. The railway administration has pledged to address these matters promptly, focusing on improving punctuality and managing crowd congestion at the station.
Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Deepak Kumar Gupta emphasized the importance of direct communication with passengers to understand their challenges and enhance service quality. He noted that the initiative aims to engage with travelers across various stations, ensuring their voices are heard. Gupta confirmed that immediate action would be taken on the issues raised, particularly regarding the punctuality of trains operating between Balaghat, Tiroda, Itwari, and Dongargarh.
Passengers expressed frustration over delays, particularly with the Shivnath and Intercity Express trains, attributing some of the issues to the same train being used for multiple services. Gupta assured that efforts are being made to rectify scheduling problems. Additionally, the demand for more porter services at Itwari station was acknowledged, with plans to engage more porters in the near future.
Congestion at entry and exit points during train arrivals and departures was another major concern. To tackle this, railway personnel have been deployed to manage passenger movement effectively. Gupta mentioned that railings are being installed to separate incoming and outgoing passengers, especially during peak hours, to enhance safety and order.
Looking ahead, the DRM stated that the division would collaborate with the Nagpur Municipal Corporation and local police to improve traffic management around the foot overbridge. Furthermore, the Itwari-Nagbhid broad-gauge line is nearing completion, pending inspection and clearance, which could soon facilitate passenger services to Umred. This feedback session was part of a broader initiative under Special Campaign 6.0, aimed at enhancing railway services in the Nagpur division.
