On October 25, approximately 13,100 non-literate adults in Nagpur district will participate in a literacy examination organized under the ULLAS Nav Bharat Saaksharta Abhiyaan. The test will take place from 10 AM to 5 PM at 1,705 designated centers, offering assessments in Marathi, Hindi, and Urdu.
The initiative, launched by the district education department, aims to integrate adults who have missed formal education into the literacy framework. This campaign targets individuals aged 15 and above and is part of a broader effort running from 2022 to 2027. Out of the expected candidates, 12,439 have already registered, while an additional 661 individuals who previously failed or missed the test are being given a second chance.
The literacy program encompasses not only basic reading and writing skills but also introduces participants to elementary mathematics, digital literacy, financial management, health and hygiene practices, environmental awareness, and understanding citizens' rights and duties. The initiative is designed to provide practical skills that will enable participants to handle everyday tasks, such as banking and accessing digital services, while also fostering awareness of government schemes.
Officials emphasize the importance of this initiative in empowering individuals to lead more self-sufficient lives. The education department has encouraged eligible candidates to attend their nearest examination center and seize this opportunity to enhance their literacy skills.
Looking ahead, the education department will continue to monitor the progress of the literacy campaign and provide further resources to support participants in their educational journey. The outcomes of this examination could significantly impact the community by improving overall literacy rates in the region.
