In a significant operation, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has seized 500 kg of ganja from a truck in Nagpur and apprehended three suspects involved in a multi-state drug trafficking network. The bust occurred early Sunday morning, highlighting the agency's ongoing efforts to combat narcotics distribution across state lines.

The NCB's investigation revealed that the seized ganja was part of a larger supply chain connecting Odisha, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh. The arrested individuals include R P Goldar and A Sarkar, both residents of West Bengal who were found in the truck, and SAS Yusuf, a Nagpur-based receiver. Yusuf has been identified as a key player in the drug peddling network, with a history of multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

According to NCB officials, the operation was initiated based on specific intelligence regarding an interstate narcotics network. The NCB team set up a trap in Nagpur, intercepting a West Bengal-registered commercial truck. Upon searching the vehicle, agents discovered the ganja concealed beneath steel pipes. Initial questioning of Goldar and Sarkar led to the identification of Yusuf as the primary receiver of the contraband.

The ganja had reportedly been loaded in Sambalpur, Odisha, and was intended for distribution in Jalna, Maharashtra, and Indore, Madhya Pradesh. To evade law enforcement, the suspects frequently altered their routes, avoiding major highways. This seizure is part of an intensified crackdown by the NCB in eastern Maharashtra, which has seen previous successful operations, including the confiscation of 209.8 kg of ganja in April and 702 kg in Gondia in May.

Moving forward, the NCB is expected to continue its aggressive stance against drug trafficking in the region. Further investigations are likely to uncover additional connections within this interstate network, as authorities aim to dismantle the operations linking Odisha to Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.
