In a shocking incident, a young man from Nagpur has reportedly fallen victim to a fraudulent scheme, losing ₹12 lakh under the pretense of securing a government job. The scam was orchestrated by a group claiming to have connections within the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and other governmental bodies, promising employment to the victim.

The fraud was uncovered when the victim, identified as Nikhil Masarke, attempted to validate his appointment letter at the Metro, only to find it was counterfeit. The Shantinagar police have since initiated a case against seven individuals involved in this scam, highlighting the growing concern over such fraudulent activities in the region.

Nikhil Masarke first met one of the accused, Pratik Yuvraj Urade, during the Ganesh festival in 2025. Urade allegedly assured him that he could leverage his connections to secure a government position. Following this, Nikhil was persuaded to make payments totaling ₹12 lakh in various installments, under the belief that he would soon be employed.

To further instill confidence, the accused provided Nikhil with a fake appointment letter, which he later discovered was not legitimate. After realizing the deception, Nikhil sought the return of his funds, but the suspects reportedly delayed any repayment attempts. The police have now booked Vishal Jadhav, Swapnil Sahare, Roshan Wankhede, Digambar Shinde, Sachin Rathod, Arvind Chaudhary, and Pratik Yuvraj Urade in connection with this case.

Authorities are currently investigating the financial transactions linked to the scam, as well as the origins of the fraudulent appointment letter. They are also looking into the possibility that other individuals may have been victimized by the same group, raising alarms about the prevalence of such scams targeting job seekers in Nagpur and beyond.
