In a shocking incident in Nagpur, a 29-year-old woman named Shruti was reportedly stabbed multiple times by her estranged husband, Ankush, at their home in Itwari on Saturday afternoon. The attack left Shruti with over 30 stab wounds, prompting immediate medical attention as she was rushed to Mayo Hospital for treatment.
The assault occurred around 1:55 PM, following a heated argument believed to have stemmed from Ankush's suspicions regarding Shruti's fidelity. Shruti's father, Dhruv Upadhyay, received a distressing phone call from her son, who informed him that his father had attacked his mother. In a state of panic, Dhruv hurried to the scene, only to find that Shruti had already been taken to the hospital by the police.
Ankush's father, Pintu, also communicated with Dhruv, confirming that his son was responsible for the violent act. The couple, who married in 2018, has two young children aged seven and five. Prior to this incident, there were ongoing legal issues, including a pending case of alleged mental and physical harassment against Ankush.
Authorities have registered a case of attempted murder at the Tehsil police station. As Shruti continues her recovery at Mayo Hospital, law enforcement is actively pursuing Ankush, who has a notorious criminal history with 21 cases filed against him. This incident has raised alarm over domestic violence and the need for protective measures for vulnerable individuals.
Looking ahead, police are intensifying their search for Ankush, and the case will likely draw attention to the broader issues of domestic abuse and legal recourse available to victims. Community leaders and advocates are expected to call for increased support systems to protect individuals in similar situations.
