The incident escalated from a dispute over marriage demands between the couple.
In a tragic incident in Nagpur, a 38-year-old married woman was reportedly murdered by her lover, Javed Sheikh Shahid Manyar, who is 33 years old. The police reported that the crime occurred when Javed struck the woman on the head with a heavy object and subsequently burned her body using a room heater before escaping from the scene. The authorities were alerted to the situation on Wednesday, following the discovery of the woman's body by her daughters upon their return home.
The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was living with her husband and their two daughters, aged 11 and 13. Javed, who worked as an air-conditioner technician in Nagpur, had been in a relationship with the woman for approximately 15 years. Tensions had reportedly escalated as she pressured him to marry her, despite Javed already being married, leading to frequent arguments between the two.
On the morning of the incident, Javed visited the woman's home while her husband was away on work and her daughters were at their uncle's residence. An argument erupted later that evening over the marriage issue, which culminated in Javed allegedly attacking the woman. After the assault, he fled to Jalgaon by train that night.
Initially, the woman's family believed she had died from an electric shock. However, a preliminary medical examination revealed that she had sustained a head injury, prompting the police to launch an investigation. Javed was apprehended in Jalgaon on Tuesday and has since been remanded in police custody until October 17.
This incident has raised concerns regarding domestic violence and the complexities of extramarital relationships in Maharashtra. The police are continuing their investigation, and community leaders are calling for greater awareness and resources to address such issues. As the case unfolds, the focus will be on the legal proceedings against Javed and the support for the victim's family during this difficult time.
