No confirmed date has been set for the upcoming convocation covering winter 2025 and summer 2026 examinations.

Nagpur University (NU) has once again failed to conduct its convocation on the scheduled date of October 11, marking the second consecutive year this has occurred. The university's academic calendar, which was released at the start of the year, designated this date for the degree-awarding ceremony, but it passed without any event taking place.

This recurring issue stems from various administrative challenges, including the absence of a full-time vice-chancellor, which has led to the postponement of the convocation. Previously, the ceremony was held in January 2026 after a similar delay. The university has three significant dates in its annual calendar: August 4, which marks its foundation day; April 30, the birth anniversary of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj; and October 11, commemorating his death anniversary.

Sources indicate that while April is considered too late for the convocation and August too early due to ongoing examination processes, October is viewed as the most appropriate time. This timing allows for the completion of examination cycles before degrees are conferred. Consequently, the university had planned the ceremony for October 11, but this has not materialized.

In contrast, the Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) successfully holds its convocation every year on September 15, honoring Sir M Visvesvaraya. This consistency highlights the challenges faced by NU in adhering to its academic schedule. University officials have stated that the convocation dates listed in the academic calendar are provisional and require approval from the Governor's office, which is still pending. They also mentioned that the preparation of the merit list is currently in progress.

Despite these statements, the academic calendar does not clarify that the October 11 date is contingent upon receiving approval from the Governor's office. As a result, the uncertainty surrounding the convocation continues, leaving students and faculty awaiting further information about when the ceremony will finally take place.
