In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Anti-Narcotics Squad of the Nagpur Police Crime Branch apprehended a 40-year-old man and confiscated 1.3 kg of ganja in a raid conducted late at night in the Kamgar Nagar locality. The operation took place near the Indian Oil petrol pump, where authorities acted on intelligence regarding the possession of narcotics.
The arrested individual, identified as Mahesh Shriram Sangole, resides in Takshashila Nagar, close to Nari village. Along with the ganja, which is estimated to be worth around ₹65,000, police also seized a mobile phone, bringing the total value of the confiscated items to approximately ₹75,000.
Authorities are currently searching for three additional suspects linked to the case: Miraj Ali, also known as Pappu Mohammad Yunus Ansari, Nadeem alias Baba Ansari, and another individual referred to as Bablu. Investigators are delving into the potential connections these suspects may have with Sangole and whether they are part of a larger drug distribution network operating in the region.
The Kapil Nagar police have initiated legal proceedings against Sangole under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The ongoing investigation aims to uncover the source of the seized ganja and any broader implications for drug trafficking in Nagpur.
As the inquiry progresses, law enforcement officials are committed to dismantling the networks involved in the illegal drug trade, emphasizing the need for community vigilance and cooperation in reporting suspicious activities.
