Nagpur Police Seize 52 Grams of MD in Drug Bust, Two Arrested

In a significant operation against drug trafficking, the Anti-Narcotics Squad of Nagpur apprehended two alleged drug dealers on Tuesday morning. The arrests took place in the Sakkardara police station jurisdiction, where officers seized 52 grams of MD powder along with additional items valued at ₹2.68 lakh. The operation unfolded near Vishal Mega Mart at Bhandewadi Plot Chowk, where the suspects were intercepted while in possession of the contraband.

The individuals taken into custody have been identified as Suraj Kathane and Harshal Abgad. During the police search, authorities recovered not only the MD powder but also three mobile phones and a two-wheeler. The total estimated value of the confiscated items underscores the scale of the operation and the ongoing issue of drug trafficking in the region.

Further investigation revealed that during questioning, the arrested suspects named three individuals believed to be their suppliers. The police have initiated a manhunt for these suppliers to trace the origins of the MD drugs and to dismantle the broader distribution network involved in the narcotics trade.

This operation is part of a larger strategy by the Nagpur Police to combat the proliferation of synthetic drugs and to disrupt the networks that facilitate their distribution within the city. The authorities are committed to addressing the challenges posed by illegal narcotics, which continue to affect local communities.

A case has been filed at the Sakkardara police station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and the investigation is ongoing. The police aim to strengthen their efforts in curbing drug-related activities and ensuring public safety in Nagpur.
