In a significant breakthrough, the Yashodhara Nagar police in Nagpur have apprehended two individuals connected to a series of vehicle thefts, recovering four stolen two-wheelers valued at approximately ₹2.45 lakh. The arrested suspects have been identified as Imran Hussain Rashid Hussain and Sheikh Sultan Sheikh Yasin, both of whom are believed to have resumed their criminal activities shortly after Imran's recent release from prison.
The investigation was triggered by a complaint from Faizan Khan, a resident of Kalamna, who reported the theft of his moped on October 7 near a paan stall close to Automotive Square. Following the report, police reviewed CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify potential suspects, leading them to gather critical information about the accused.
Acting on a tip-off during routine patrols, police learned that the suspects were attempting to dispose of a stolen vehicle in the Tajbagh area. Officers quickly set up a trap and successfully detained both individuals. Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in four separate two-wheeler thefts across the jurisdictions of Sakkardara, Yashodhara Nagar, and Nandanvan police stations.
The police recovered all four stolen vehicles, confirming their total value at ₹2.45 lakh. Investigators believe that the suspects may be implicated in further vehicle thefts throughout Nagpur. Authorities are also looking into claims that stolen vehicles were modified to conceal their original registration numbers before being sold or discarded.
As the investigation continues, police are working to ascertain whether the arrested individuals are connected to other ongoing theft cases in the area. This development underscores the ongoing challenges of vehicle theft in urban settings and highlights the police's commitment to addressing such crimes effectively.
