Nagpur Rural Police have initiated legal proceedings against more than 26 individuals linked to an alleged obscene dance event that took place at Green Farm in Champa Shivar, within the jurisdiction of Pachgaon Police Station. The accused list includes the farm's owner, Ramlू Kondya Sultan, aged 70, along with the manager, Arif Anwar Khan, 40, and caretaker, Arif Suleman Sheikh, 42. The police action follows a tip-off received regarding inappropriate gestures and dance performances by both men and women during the event held on October 8 and 9.
Upon receiving the information, authorities conducted an inquiry and reviewed CCTV footage from the event days. The footage reportedly depicted individuals engaging in dances characterized by allegedly obscene gestures. This evidence led to the registration of a case against those identified in the recordings.
In addition to the farm's owner and staff, individuals from various districts, including Gadchiroli, Balaghat, Akola, and others, have also been implicated. Notably, four women have been named in the case. The investigation aims to clarify the specific roles of each accused party in organizing or participating in the event.
The case has been registered under Maharashtra's laws that prohibit obscene performances in public venues, aiming to protect the dignity of women employed in such settings. Investigators are currently scrutinizing the CCTV evidence and other relevant materials to ascertain whether the event breached any legal statutes. The total value of the seized property during the police operation is reported to be ₹64,100, although detailed descriptions of the items have not been disclosed.
The investigation is being conducted under the guidance of Nagpur Rural Superintendent of Police Harsh Poddar, with Pachgaon Police leading the inquiry. They are assessing the circumstances surrounding the event, the responsibilities of the organizers, and the evidence gathered from the site. The outcome of the investigation will determine the next steps in the legal process. While the incident has sparked discussions in rural Nagpur, claims regarding previous events or financial expenditures related to the venue remain unverified. The allegations against the accused are still under investigation, and their guilt has yet to be established.
