Nagpur Metro Achieves 185,000 Passengers on Dussehra 2023

On October 20, 2023, Nagpur Metro marked a notable achievement by transporting over 185,000 passengers, making it the third-highest single-day ridership in its history. This surge coincided with the celebrations of Dhamma Chakra Pravartan Din and Vijayadashami, highlighting the metro's growing popularity during festive occasions.

The increase in ridership, reported at 23% higher than the same day last year, reflects the metro's expanding role in facilitating public transport during significant events. To manage the anticipated influx of passengers, services commenced at 5 AM and continued until midnight, ensuring that attendees could travel conveniently to various celebrations throughout the day.

MahaMetro officials reported that a coordinated effort among various departments was crucial in maintaining smooth operations. Special attention was given to passenger facilities and crowd management, aiming to provide a safe and comfortable experience for all riders during this busy period. Indora Square Metro station, in particular, experienced a notable surge in passenger numbers, prompting staff to effectively manage the crowd using the available infrastructure.

The successful handling of the day’s operations was attributed to the promptness and planning of the station staff, who worked diligently to ensure passenger movement remained orderly. Previously, Nagpur Metro's highest single-day ridership was recorded on January 1, 2023, with approximately 220,000 passengers.
