Police have launched a manhunt for the accused, who is currently believed to be in Mumbai.

In a startling incident in Nagpur, a man has been accused of printing counterfeit Rs 500 notes valued at Rs 37 lakh. The operation was uncovered when the landlord, unable to reach his tenant, broke into the rented room after several days of absence. Upon entering, he found bundles of fake currency and printing equipment, prompting him to alert the authorities.

The accused, identified as Pushpak Krishna Bhandarkar, also known as Bendane, has been living in Trimurti Nagar and had rented the room in the Kharbi area for about 18 months. His rental agreement expired in January, and he reportedly stopped paying rent several months ago. Following threats of violence against the landlord, Ramesh, a complaint was filed with the Wathoda Police, although it was initially non-cognisable.

When the landlord finally entered the room, he discovered not only stacks of counterfeit notes but also a printer and various printing materials. The police were called to the scene, where they found bundles of fake Rs 500 notes and a counting machine. A preliminary investigation suggested that the total value of the counterfeit currency and related materials could reach approximately Rs 48 lakh.

The implications of this counterfeit operation are significant for Nagpur and the surrounding region. Counterfeit currency poses a serious threat to the economy, and the police's swift action is crucial in preventing further circulation of these fake notes. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to understand the full extent of the operation and its potential impact on the local community.

As police continue their search for Bhandarkar, who is believed to have fled to Mumbai, they are coordinating efforts to apprehend him. Investigators are also examining the details of how the counterfeit operation was conducted and whether there are any accomplices involved. The case highlights the challenges law enforcement faces in tackling counterfeit currency and the need for vigilance in financial transactions.
