In a significant protest, MPSC aspirants gathered at Tiranga Chowk to voice concerns over a question paper leak and demand accountability from the commission's leadership.
Protesters demand the resignation of MPSC chairperson Vivek Bhimanwar due to alleged question paper leaks.
Aspirants call for 20,000 posts in the upcoming MPSC Group-C recruitment advertisement.
Concerns raised about the integrity of the MPSC examination process amid ongoing controversies.
On Saturday, MPSC aspirants took to the streets at Tiranga Chowk in Nagpur, a notable location for competitive exam preparation, to protest against the alleged leak of question papers. The gathering aimed to draw attention to their demands, particularly the resignation of Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) chairperson Vivek Bhimanwar, as they believe the integrity of the examination process has been compromised.
The choice of Tiranga Chowk, situated near the RSS headquarters, was strategic, although organizers clarified that the location was selected for its proximity to numerous coaching centers and libraries frequented by MPSC aspirants. The protesters expressed their frustration over the recent controversy surrounding the Drug Inspector examination, where police investigations suggested that question sets were improperly accessed from within the MPSC system.
The protest commenced at 10 AM, with participants emphasizing the need for Bhimanwar's resignation on moral grounds. Mahesh Dable, a representative of the protesters, stated, "Our protest was against the MPSC paper leak. The chairperson must resign." He further warned that if their demands were not addressed, they would escalate their agitation.
In addition to the resignation, the aspirants called for the MPSC Group-C 2026 recruitment advertisement to include 20,000 job openings. They also urged that the State Services Main examination be conducted in an objective format starting in 2027. The protesters insisted that the Group-C examination scheduled for January 3, 2027, proceed as planned, and they requested timely announcements for the State Services Main 2026, Group-B Main 2026, and Group-C Main 2026 examination dates.
Atish Pise, another aspirant, highlighted the plight of students from ordinary families, stating, "For students from ordinary families, MPSC is a dream. If question papers are allegedly being sold for Rs50-90 lakh, it is an injustice to thousands of aspirants who prepare honestly." The protest reflects a growing discontent among aspirants regarding the examination process and their determination to seek justice and transparency from the MPSC.
