The events unfolded just after midnight on Dussehra, when the assistant, reportedly intoxicated, crashed into a two-wheeler, severely injuring the rider, Raheel Shakeel Sheikh, who is now fighting for his life in a private hospital.
Raheel, a 28-year-old delivery boy, was on his way to Yashodhara Nagar when he was struck by the PA's vehicle near Samvidhan Chowk. Witnesses reported that the impact was so severe that Raheel was thrown into the air before landing near a roadside tree. As the family's primary earner, his critical condition has left his family in distress, with doctors expressing grave concerns about his recovery.
After the initial collision, the PA allegedly fled the scene at high speed, crashing into a pickup van near Kasturchand Park. Eyewitness Rohit Chinchmalkar, who narrowly avoided being hit, reported the incident to the police. Authorities arrived promptly and apprehended the PA, who was found to be heavily intoxicated and unable to stand. A breathalyzer test confirmed the presence of alcohol in his system.
