A 24-year-old BDS student from Nagpur, who had gone missing, was successfully located at Badnera Junction with the aid of the Railway Protection Force (RPF). The young woman, whose family resides in the Ajni area, reportedly left home after her relatives discovered that she had spent her scholarship funds and pledged her mother's gold jewelry without their knowledge.
The incident unfolded on Wednesday when the student left her home without informing anyone. Her sister filed a missing person's report with the Ajni police, prompting an immediate search. Initial investigations revealed that the student had left behind a note indicating she was distressed over her financial situation, leading to concerns about her mental well-being. The police initiated a technical investigation to track her whereabouts.
Through their efforts, authorities learned that she was traveling to Mumbai aboard the Vidarbha Express. The Ajni police quickly contacted the RPF, providing them with her photograph and details. Thanks to the prompt action of railway security personnel, she was found at Badnera Junction. Following her recovery, her family was notified and they traveled to bring her back to Nagpur.
Upon her return, police took detailed statements from the student and her sister, and also questioned a friend. During her statement, the student disclosed that ₹2.5 lakh had been deposited into her account as scholarship funds intended for her college fees. However, she admitted to spending the money on other expenses. Additionally, she had pledged her mother’s gold jewelry for a loan of ₹60,000 at a local firm, which heightened her anxiety when her family discovered these financial dealings.
The student clarified to the police that she had not been abducted and bore no grievances against anyone. The Ajni police are now finalizing the necessary legal procedures regarding the case.
