The MIDC Industries Association (MIA) has urgently called for improvements to the electricity infrastructure in Nagpur's industrial zones. During a recent meeting with MSEDCL Operations Director Dhananjay Aundhekar, MIA President P. Mohan highlighted critical issues affecting local industries.

MIA pointed out that the current transformer capacity in industrial estates is inadequate, necessitating immediate upgrades. The association also stressed the importance of installing additional distribution transformers and constructing new substations to mitigate frequent power dips, voltage fluctuations, and interruptions that have been detrimental to industrial production and have caused damage to sensitive machinery.

To further stabilize the power supply, MIA proposed the installation of series reactors in locations where it is technically feasible. Additionally, the association expressed concerns regarding delays in obtaining new electricity connections through contractors, advocating for stricter monitoring of service level agreements to ensure accountability and prevent such delays.

MIA also urged for a complete digital transformation in the process of distributing electricity subsidies and reimbursing charges under the Vidarbha-Marathwada power subsidy scheme, aiming for greater transparency. The association emphasized that enhancing the electricity infrastructure and ensuring reliable supply are essential for meeting the increasing demands of industrial units and attracting new investments to the region.

The meeting saw participation from senior officials, including MSEDCL Chief Engineer Rajesh Naik and Superintending Engineer Praful Lande, alongside MIA representatives such as Mohan, Ajay Agrawal, and Neelkanth Jaiswal. Other industrial associations like BMA and Laghu Udyog Bharati were also present, underscoring the collective concern for the region's industrial future.
