The event was held at Deshpande Sabhagruh, where various dignitaries from the judiciary gathered to discuss the importance of mediation in the legal framework.
The inauguration was led by Justice A S Gadkari, a Judge of the Bombay High Court and Executive Chairman of the Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority. He was accompanied by other prominent judges, including Justice A S Kilor, who chairs the Mediation Monitoring Sub-Committee in Nagpur, and Justice A L Pansare. The gathering underscored the collaborative efforts of the judiciary to promote mediation as a viable alternative to traditional litigation.
In his inaugural address, Justice Gadkari emphasized the growing significance of mediation in India, noting its potential to enhance the efficiency of the judicial system. He pointed out that mediation not only facilitates dispute resolution but also plays a crucial role in alleviating the burden on courts. Other judges, including Justice A L Pansare and Justice U S Joshi-Phalke, contributed to the discussions by elaborating on the various aspects and benefits of mediation.
During the valedictory session, Justice A S Kilor reiterated that mediation operates within the legal framework, providing parties with a structured opportunity to resolve their disputes amicably. The conference concluded with a vote of thanks from M Salman Azmi, the Principal District Judge of Nagpur, who acknowledged the contributions of all participants and organizers.
Looking ahead, the emphasis on mediation is expected to influence future judicial practices in Nagpur and beyond. The ongoing support from the judiciary and legal authorities aims to integrate mediation more deeply into the dispute resolution process, potentially leading to a more efficient and accessible justice system for all citizens.
