The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has recently authorized a total of 435 housing projects, which are expected to involve an investment of approximately ₹23,719 crore. This approval comes as developers aim to leverage the festive season leading up to Diwali, with 32 of these projects located in the Vidarbha region, specifically 27 in Nagpur, four in Amravati, and one in Akola.

In addition to the new project approvals, MahaRERA also granted deadline extensions for 210 existing projects and made corrections to 609 others. The authority emphasized that its team worked diligently to ensure that all proposals met the necessary legal, technical, and financial standards for approval. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) led the way with 201 new registrations, followed by Pune with 140, and other regions contributing to the total.

The Pune region's approvals included a diverse range of projects, with 13 in Satara, eight in Kolhapur, and three each in Sangli and Solapur. Meanwhile, the MMR's approvals comprised a significant number of projects in Mumbai and its suburbs, as well as in Thane, Raigad, Palghar, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg. Khandesh and Marathwada also saw new project registrations, indicating a broad distribution of development across the state.

MahaRERA's media coordinator, Ram Dontonde, highlighted the importance of obtaining approvals for any amendments to registered projects. Developers are mandated to seek extensions for projects that experience delays; otherwise, they risk having their projects classified as lapsed, which could hinder progress. From April to September 2026, MahaRERA processed a total of 6,486 applications, including 2,056 new registrations, 2,053 extensions, and 2,377 corrections.

Looking ahead, MahaRERA plans to continue processing applications that align with its criteria, particularly as the festive season approaches. The authority remains committed to enhancing transparency, safeguarding the interests of homebuyers, and ensuring timely completion of housing projects, thereby fostering a more robust real estate market in Maharashtra.
