Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on October 19, 2026, that the suspects involved in the attack on actor Tiger Shroff have been identified and will be apprehended shortly. The incident took place in Mumbai's Juhu area, where gunmen fired at Shroff's vehicle on the evening of October 18, resulting in minor injuries to the actor and his driver. Fadnavis addressed the media in Nagpur, calling the attack serious and condemnable, and assured that the Mumbai Police is actively pursuing leads related to the case.
The attack has raised significant concerns regarding safety, particularly for high-profile individuals in the film industry. Fadnavis stated that the police have received crucial information and are working diligently to track down the attackers and their handlers, who are believed to be operating outside Maharashtra. He emphasized that those responsible for the attack are not based in the state, and the government is coordinating with other states and the central government to bring them to justice.
In a statement, Fadnavis noted that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for the attack, although police have not yet confirmed this information. A case of attempted murder has been filed against three unidentified individuals, and the investigation has been handed over to the Crime Branch. The Chief Minister described the attackers as cowards, asserting that their actions would not go unpunished and that the police take every threat seriously.
Fadnavis also reassured Tiger Shroff, stating that he would be provided with adequate security following the incident. The Chief Minister's remarks come amid criticism from the opposition regarding the government's handling of law and order, referencing past incidents that raised questions about safety during their tenure. He defended the Mumbai Police's professionalism and the trust it has earned from the public, including those in the film industry.
Looking ahead, Fadnavis promised that the government would continue to prioritize the safety of its citizens and ensure that those involved in the attack are swiftly brought to justice. The Mumbai Police's ongoing investigation is expected to yield further developments in the coming days, as they work to dismantle any networks supporting the attackers.
