In Nagpur, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has called the forthcoming graduates' constituency elections a 'battle of prestige' for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Speaking to party workers on Friday, he emphasized the critical need for their efforts to secure victory for the party's candidate, Sudhakar Kohale. Gadkari has been actively campaigning across six assembly constituencies in the city, urging his team to intensify their outreach efforts.
During a meeting with BJP workers in North Nagpur, Gadkari stressed the importance of persuading graduates who do not currently support the party to participate in the elections. He pointed out that the previous election was marred by 12,000 invalid votes, which significantly contributed to their defeat. "We must work hard to ensure that we win this time," he said, highlighting the necessity of voter engagement.
Gadkari instructed party members to personally visit voters' homes to discuss government achievements and encourage them to vote for the BJP. He remarked, "This is not an election where you play drums and put up posters. Connecting with each voter is a must." He urged them to take note of those who are not inclined to vote for the BJP and to inform them about the development initiatives undertaken by the government.
Among the achievements he mentioned were Nagpur's pioneering efforts in waste segregation, which produces 28 tonnes of bio-CNG daily, and the sale of treated toilet water to local power plants, generating an annual revenue of Rs 300 crore. He also noted that the Nagpur Metro serves 300,000 passengers daily, underscoring the city's significant development strides. These points are intended to resonate with undecided voters and reinforce the party's commitment to progress.
Additionally, Gadkari announced that he has sanctioned three new roads in North Nagpur through the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund, linking them to the Ring Road. He also revealed that the National Highways Authority of India has allocated Rs 1,600 crore for the construction of service roads, further enhancing the city's infrastructure. As the elections approach, the BJP is keen on leveraging these developments to secure a favorable outcome.
