This annual event, which celebrates Dr. B. R. Ambedkar's conversion to Buddhism, is expected to attract a significant number of attendees, necessitating additional travel options for passengers.
The special train services will include two trains departing from Pune to Nagpur on October 19 and 21. Train 01215 is scheduled to leave Pune at 2:50 PM, arriving in Nagpur at 7:30 AM the following day. The return journey will be facilitated by Train 01216, which will depart from Nagpur at 11 PM on October 20 and 22, reaching Pune at 4:20 PM the next day. These arrangements are aimed at enhancing travel capacity during this busy period.
The Dhammachakra Pravartan Din commemorates a pivotal moment in Indian history, marking the mass conversion of Dr. Ambedkar and around six lakh followers to Buddhism. This event draws visitors from across Maharashtra and beyond, leading to a surge in demand for railway services. The special trains will traverse a long-distance route, stopping at numerous key stations along the way, including Daund Chord Line, Jalgaon, and Wardha.
Each of the four train services will consist of 18 coaches, comprising 16 general second-class or sleeper-class coaches available for unreserved travel, along with two guard-cum-luggage vans. This configuration is designed to accommodate the expected influx of passengers, ensuring that everyone has access to transportation during the event.
Passengers are encouraged to purchase tickets through the UTS mobile application or at railway booking counters. The fares will align with the standard rates for Superfast, Mail, and Express trains. It is advisable for travelers to verify the service schedule and ticketing information prior to their journey, as the trains will operate on different dates for the onward and return trips.
