In a significant breakthrough, Nagpur police have arrested four suspects involved in the robbery of gold and silver jewellery worth around Rs 40 lakh from a jeweller's shop in the MIDC area. The arrests were made in Bareilly, Noida, and Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, following a detailed investigation that began after the incident on October 3, 2026.

The robbery occurred in broad daylight when four assailants entered Dhomne Jewellers on Hingna Road, threatening an employee with what appeared to be a firearm. They assaulted the employee, Shubham Khemraj Hadge, and made off with approximately 350 grams of jewellery. The incident prompted immediate action from the MIDC police, who registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The investigation was complex, requiring the analysis of hundreds of CCTV recordings and the use of artificial intelligence to track the suspects' movements. Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangre Patil oversaw the operation, which involved two special Crime Branch teams dispatched to Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. After a week of covert operations, the teams successfully identified and apprehended the suspects, starting with Abhishek Singh Thakur in Bareilly.

The arrested individuals include Abhishek Singh Thakur, Jairam alias Joginder Ashok Singh Thakur, Shubhankit Nileshkumar Chaturvedi, and Rajan Sami Sharma, all of whom have prior criminal records. The police have also seized the vehicle used in the robbery, a Fortuner, and are continuing to investigate the roles of the suspects and any additional accomplices.

As the investigation progresses, police are focused on recovering the stolen jewellery and understanding the gang's operational methods. The collaboration with local police in Uttar Pradesh has been crucial in tracking down the suspects. Authorities are optimistic that further details about the robbery and the gang's network will emerge as the investigation continues.
