BJP has nominated candidates for three MLC seats, while allies will contest two.

Fadnavis criticizes opposition rallies as attempts to regain lost support.
In a bold assertion, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis declared on Sunday that the Mahayuti alliance, comprising the BJP and its allies, will secure victory in all five seats in the forthcoming MLC elections. The BJP has put forward candidates for three constituencies, while its coalition partners will field nominees for the remaining two seats.
The BJP's candidates include Sudhakar Kohale for Nagpur, Smita Jadhav for the Pune graduates' constituency, and Kaustubh Gawde for the Pune teachers' seat. Fadnavis praised Kohale, a former MLA and past district president of the BJP in Nagpur, stating, "He has worked extensively for the party, and I am confident all three of our candidates will emerge victorious."
Fadnavis also expressed optimism about Jadhav, who recently joined the BJP, describing her as a valuable addition and a strong contender for the Pune graduates' seat. He emphasized that the electorate will recognize her capabilities and support her candidacy.
Addressing a recent rally in Mumbai organized by opposition leaders Uddhav and Raj Thackeray, which called for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Fadnavis dismissed the event as an ineffective attempt to reclaim lost political ground. He noted that despite the rally's promotion, attendance was low, indicating a lack of public support.
The Chief Minister further criticized opposition parties for perpetuating a false narrative regarding alleged irregularities in the Maharashtra elections. He clarified that Gyanesh Kumar assumed the role of Chief Election Commissioner in 2025, and the SIR took place in 2026, asserting that neither could have influenced the elections held in 2024. Fadnavis concluded by stating that the opposition's public demonstrations are merely expressions of frustration following their electoral defeats.
