An environmental public hearing concerning the Nagpur–Chandrapur Access-Controlled Expressway is slated for November 25, 2026, in Samudrapur, Wardha district. The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) has issued a notice encouraging residents, environmental groups, and stakeholders to voice their objections and suggestions regarding the project.
The hearing will commence at 11:30 AM at Dipali Mangal Karyalaya, located opposite Vidya Vikas College. This event is organized in accordance with the environmental clearance notification from the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, originally issued on September 14, 2006, and later amended on December 1, 2009. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) requested the MPCB to facilitate this hearing as part of the environmental assessment process for the project.
Local residents, particularly those who may be affected by the expressway, along with environmental organizations, are encouraged to participate. They can express their views either orally during the hearing or through written submissions. The MPCB has provided specific offices where written objections and suggestions can be sent until the date of the hearing.
The MPCB has made available copies of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report for public inspection at various government offices, including the District Collector’s Office and the District Industries Centre in Wardha. These documents are accessible during working hours and are available in both English and Marathi, ensuring that all community members can review the potential environmental impacts of the project.
The upcoming hearing on November 25 will serve as a critical platform for community members to express their environmental concerns and contribute their suggestions as part of the ongoing assessment of the Nagpur–Chandrapur Expressway project.
