On Thursday, residents of Vidarbha experienced a notable drop in daytime temperatures, thanks to unseasonal cloud cover and light showers attributed to cyclone Arnab. Gondia recorded the lowest maximum temperature in the region at 24.8 degrees Celsius, which is significantly below the normal average for this time of year.

The impact of cyclone Arnab was felt across Nagpur and surrounding districts, where cloudy skies and intermittent rainfall kept temperatures from rising. Bramhapuri followed Gondia with a maximum temperature of 25.7 degrees Celsius, while Gadchiroli recorded 26 degrees Celsius. Other areas such as Amravati, Chandrapur, and Yavatmal also saw maximum temperatures below 30 degrees Celsius, showcasing the widespread cooling effect.

Interestingly, while daytime temperatures dropped, minimum temperatures across Vidarbha remained above normal levels. This discrepancy indicates that the cloud cover and rainfall primarily affected daytime heating, leaving nighttime temperatures relatively elevated. The overall weather shift has provided a refreshing change from the typical warmth experienced in Vidarbha during October.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), this unsettled weather pattern is expected to persist in the coming days. Partly cloudy conditions are anticipated on October 30 and 31, followed by continued cloudiness from November 1 for an additional two to three days. This prolonged cloud cover may help maintain lower daytime temperatures, although the amount and distribution of rainfall will play a crucial role in determining the overall impact.

The sudden decrease in daytime temperatures has been a welcome relief for residents in Nagpur and other parts of Vidarbha, offering a break from the October heat. However, the above-normal minimum temperatures suggest that the region has not experienced uniform cooling, indicating a complex interplay of weather patterns in the area.
