In a strategic move to secure a win in the upcoming Graduates’ Constituency election, Congress officials from Nagpur city and rural districts convened on Thursday to pledge their support for Abhijit Wanjarri. The meeting, attended by Maharashtra Congress in-charge Sirivella Prasad, aimed to unify efforts across the party to ensure a strong campaign leading up to the polls.
Atul Londhe, the chief spokesperson for the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), expressed confidence in the party's prospects, stating that all factions of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition are united in their goal. He asserted that the Congress party is poised to achieve an unprecedented victory margin in the election, sending a positive signal to its members.
Former minister Sunil Kedar highlighted the significance of the election, framing it as a crucial ideological battle. He emphasized that the Congress party is committed to upholding constitutional values, contrasting this with the BJP-led alliance's perceived agenda to undermine these principles. The call to action resonated among the attendees, who were urged to prioritize party unity and outreach to voters.
City Congress president Praful Gudadhe and rural unit president Ashwin Bais affirmed their commitment to advancing the party's message and ensuring Wanjarri's victory. The meeting followed a series of mobilization activities, including a 'Samvidhan Jagar' bike rally aimed at protesting the alleged removal of eligible voters from the electoral rolls. This initiative reflects the party's broader concerns regarding electoral integrity and the role of the chief election commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar.
In addition to the bike rally, Rizwan Ansari, the Central Nagpur block president, led a 'Mat Bachao Desh Bachao' padayatra, further galvanizing support among party workers. The collective efforts of Prasad, Gudadhe, and other party members underscore a determined push to rally support against perceived electoral injustices and to solidify the Congress's position in the upcoming elections.
