In a heartwarming development just ahead of Navratri, a woman from Chhattisgarh, who had been missing for nearly two years, has finally returned home. This emotional reunion was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the staff at Nagpur's Regional Mental Hospital, who conducted a thorough 10-month search for her.

The 45-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital on January 2, following a directive from the chief judicial magistrate of Bhandara. She had been brought in by police for treatment but lacked identification documents and was unable to communicate her name or address clearly. Despite these challenges, the hospital staff, including doctors Pankaj Bagde and Krunali Uke, provided psychiatric care that gradually improved her mental health.

As her condition improved, the woman's desire to reunite with her children intensified. Social service superintendent Kunda Katkhaye Bidkar played a crucial role in this process, offering counseling and diligently following up on any leads she could provide. The search involved contacting nine police stations across Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, but initial attempts yielded no results until a significant clue emerged regarding her daughter's marriage in Korba district.

With this new information, Bidkar collaborated with a coordinator at Mother Teresa Ashram in Raipur and reached out to Korba police. Inspector Narhari Patel took charge of the investigation, and within three hours, they successfully traced the woman's son. The emotional moment of their first contact came via video call, leading to a reunion just two days later when her son and son-in-law arrived at the hospital to bring her home.

Dr. Amrish Mohbe, the medical superintendent, emphasized that mental healthcare extends beyond medication, highlighting the importance of reconnecting patients with their families and communities. This case serves as a poignant reminder of the power of compassion and coordinated efforts in mental health care, especially as the world approaches Mental Health Day on October 10.
