In response to escalating concerns about water scarcity, the Chandrapur Irrigation Project Circle has initiated a 16-day campaign titled Jal Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, running from October 2 to 17. This initiative aims to promote water conservation, prevent wastage, and ensure the efficient utilization of water resources across the region.

The campaign emphasizes the involvement of farmers, water user associations, and local citizens in sustainable water management practices. Key areas of focus include judicious irrigation methods, equitable distribution of water, and the maintenance of existing irrigation infrastructure. Officials will conduct inspections of dams, canals, and irrigation systems to identify issues such as leakages and repair needs, particularly targeting the challenges faced by farmers at the tail-end of irrigation networks.

During this period, farmers will be consulted to address supply-related difficulties and ensure that adequate water reaches their fields. The initiative also aims to resolve complaints regarding water charges and other irrigation-related issues, with plans for timely corrective measures. Additionally, pending matters concerning project-affected families, including rehabilitation and land acquisition, will be reviewed to facilitate early resolutions.

Farmers are encouraged to utilize water based on crop requirements, minimize unnecessary releases, and adhere to established irrigation schedules. Water user associations will be urged to ensure fair distribution, while citizens are called upon to report any leakages and avoid wasteful consumption in homes and agricultural activities.

Executive Engineer Jalesh Singh highlighted the importance of public participation in safeguarding available water resources and addressing the ongoing drought situation. The success of this campaign relies heavily on community engagement and cooperation to foster a culture of responsible water use.
