In a startling incident in Surendragarh, Nagpur, a 34-year-old bouncer named Vedprakash alias Robinson Mishra was arrested by local police after he allegedly fired two rounds into the air while intoxicated on Friday. The police action took place in the early hours of Saturday, leading to Mishra's apprehension at his residence near the Radhakrishna temple.
Mishra, a bodybuilder and gym trainer, reportedly became frustrated after unsuccessful attempts to meet Bollywood actor Salman Khan, whom he admires. The police investigation revealed that during a lunch outing at a local dhaba, a truck driver approached Mishra for a loan. When Mishra declined, the driver allegedly offered him a firearm along with ammunition, although the precise details surrounding the firing incident and the weapon's origin remain unclear.
During the police operation, officers recovered a country-made pistol, two live cartridges, and an empty cartridge, with a total value of approximately Rs 25,600. The firearm was notably concealed within a pillow, raising questions about Mishra's intentions and the circumstances leading to the discharge of the weapon.
The operation was executed by the anti-prohibition squad, led by head constable Sandeep Changole, under the oversight of senior inspector Sarag Meerashi and zonal DCP Annapurna Singh. Following the incident, Gittikhadan police registered a case against Mishra under the Arms Act for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, as well as relevant sections of the Maharashtra Police Act.
As the investigation continues, authorities are working to establish the full context of the incident, including the source of the firearm and any potential connections to other criminal activities. The case highlights ongoing concerns regarding illegal firearms and public safety in the region.
