In a significant development, police have arrested three individuals connected to the death of Shiva Sharma, a 27-year-old cafe owner from Lucknow, who fell from the fourth floor of an apartment building. The arrests took place on Tuesday in Chinchbhuvan, Nagpur, following a collaborative investigation by the Nagpur crime branch and Lucknow police. Among those apprehended is Sharma's live-in partner, Shraddha Dubey, alongside her sister Rashmi Dubey and their driver Adil.
The investigation began after the police received a tip-off regarding the suspects' whereabouts. The breakthrough came from a clue related to the '11th floor' of a building, which was provided by the driver of the getaway vehicle. This information, combined with extensive CCTV footage from around 250 cameras, allowed police to trace the suspects' movements from Lucknow to Agra, Nepal, and finally to Nagpur.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Deepak Aggarwal, the crime branch teams meticulously tracked the suspects' route, examining footage from various locations. They identified the rented flat where the suspects were hiding after monitoring the area for nearly 24 hours. The investigation was further supported by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF), which joined the operation to ensure a successful apprehension.
The implications of this case extend beyond the immediate arrests. It raises questions about the circumstances surrounding Sharma's death, which Dubey initially claimed was a suicide. The police are now scrutinizing the digital footprints left by the suspects, particularly the use of mobile phones for coordinating their movements, which may provide further insights into the case.
