In Chandrapur, a major recruitment drive for the Indian Army is taking place at the sports complex in Visapur, near Ballarpur, where young aspirants are vying for a chance to join the forces. The recruitment process, which began recently, has attracted a total of 8,017 candidates from various regions, including Vidarbha, other parts of Maharashtra, and Gujarat. The drive is scheduled to continue until October 17, with candidates undergoing rigorous physical tests to assess their endurance and fitness levels.

The district administration has made comprehensive arrangements to support the candidates during the recruitment period. This includes provisions for food, accommodation, drinking water, sanitation, and security, ensuring that the process runs smoothly. The sports complex also hosts accommodations for the Army recruitment team, facilitating their operations on-site.

Out of the total participants, 6,556 candidates hail from Vidarbha, while 930 are from other areas of Maharashtra, and 531 come from Gujarat. The recruitment is being managed by the Army Recruiting Office in Nagpur, led by Colonel Anshul Srivastava. Candidates who have successfully passed the written examination are now undergoing physical fitness tests and medical evaluations for various positions, including Agniveer General Duty, Technical roles, Clerk/Store Keeper Technical, and Tradesman for Class X and Class VIII pass candidates.

To enhance the experience for candidates, twelve companies have stepped in to support meal arrangements as part of their corporate social responsibility initiatives. Notable contributors include Chandrapur Super Thermal Power Station, Lloyds Metals and Energy Ltd, and UltraTech Cement, among others. Additionally, women’s self-help groups, organized through MAVIM and UMED, have set up stalls outside the complex to offer food and daily essentials, creating both convenience for the candidates and livelihood opportunities for locals.

As the recruitment drive progresses, physical and medical assessments will continue until October 17, with selections made based on the Army’s established criteria. This initiative not only aims to bolster the ranks of the Indian Army but also provides a platform for local youth to pursue their aspirations in military service.
