The altercation took place on Borgaon Road, near the Dinshaw factory, within the jurisdiction of the Gittikhadan police. Sidam, who resided in the Pandhrabodi area, suffered severe stab wounds and succumbed to his injuries at Mayo Hospital shortly thereafter.
The conflict reportedly stemmed from a disagreement over the payment and recovery of a sound system that Sidam had hired out for a Durga Puja music event. According to preliminary investigations, Sidam had engaged a group of nine individuals, including three minors, to manage his DJ equipment and perform at the event. Tensions escalated when Sidam sought to retrieve his equipment and settle outstanding payments, leading him to confront the group on Monday night, accompanied by a friend.
During the meeting, an argument erupted over the sound system and the owed money, which quickly escalated into violence. Witnesses claim that Sidam was attacked with a sharp weapon, resulting in life-threatening injuries. The police have since detained nine suspects, including Shreeshant Sadmake (19), Mahesh Wadhwe (18), Rishabh Sadmake (21), Aadesh Krishna Sadmake (22), Romesh Sadmake (27), and Shivraj Sadmake (18). The minors involved are being processed under juvenile justice laws.
