In a troubling incident on October 4, a 10-year-old boy named Sagar Harde was bitten by a dog owned by Shrikant Shende in Om Nagar, located on Koradi Road, Nagpur. The attack occurred around 5 PM, leaving Sagar with injuries to his right leg near the knee. Neighbors quickly alerted Sagar's mother, Umeshwari, who took him to Mayo Hospital for treatment before bringing him home.

Following the incident, Umeshwari, aged 40 and a laborer from Balaghat district in Madhya Pradesh, approached Shende's residence to express her concerns regarding the dog bite. However, she alleged that Shende responded with verbal abuse, threats, and physical intimidation, pushing her out of his house. According to police reports, Shende allegedly challenged her to take any action she deemed necessary.

Umeshwari subsequently filed a complaint at the Koradi police station, prompting authorities to register a case against Shende. The charges include voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation, and intentional insult aimed at provoking a breach of peace. Senior Inspector Ganesh Dhumal emphasized that dog owners have a responsibility to ensure their pets do not pose a danger to the public.

The incident has raised concerns about pet ownership and public safety in the area. Local residents are discussing the need for stricter regulations regarding pet control to prevent similar occurrences in the future. The case highlights the potential for conflicts between neighbors when pet ownership is not managed responsibly.

As of now, Shende has not been arrested, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are expected to take further action based on the findings of the case. Community members are urged to remain vigilant and report any similar incidents to ensure the safety of children and residents alike.
