Upper Siang District Task Force Meeting Focuses on Immunization Goals
The District Task Force on Immunization convened to review and enhance vaccination strategies in Upper Siang.

On October 7, the District Task Force on Immunization (DFTI) held a crucial meeting in Yingkiong, focusing on the performance of Routine Immunization (RI) and the upcoming Measles-Rubella (MR) Mop-Up Vaccination campaign. Organized by the District Health Society of Upper Siang in partnership with UNICEF, the meeting took place in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Ashok Tajo led the discussions, reviewing the current status of RI and the Zero-Dose Implementation Plan (ZIP) for 2026. He stressed the necessity for health facilities and personnel to work collaboratively to meet the targets outlined in their micro-plans. Dr. Tajo highlighted the critical role of effective immunization coverage, urging all stakeholders to ensure that no eligible child is left unvaccinated.
Dr. Andeng Sitek, the District RCH Officer-in-Charge, provided an overview of the meeting's objectives and assessed the performance of various health facilities. Her insights pointed to key areas that require immediate attention to improve vaccination rates. During the technical session, Dr. Arindam Sarbadhikari from WHO presented a detailed analysis of RI performance up to the second quarter of 2026-27, along with preparations for the MR Mop-Up Vaccination Campaign.
Medical Officers from various blocks, including Tuting and Mariyang, reported on their respective health facilities' RI performance, showcasing achievements and identifying gaps that need addressing. Maniram Limbu, the District Coordinator, emphasized the significance of Data Quality Assessment (DQA) for effective health program planning and monitoring.
The meeting also included presentations on the U-Mentor Workshop and National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS), aimed at enhancing the skills of health personnel. The gathering saw participation from program officers, medical officers, and various stakeholders, all committed to improving health outcomes in Upper Siang.
