Pune's GreenArray Labs Unveils CerviSense HPV Self-Sampling Kit
The new self-sampling kit aims to enhance cervical cancer screening accessibility for women.
CerviSense allows women to collect HPV samples independently.
The kit eliminates the need for a speculum during sampling.
Recent studies show high accuracy rates for HPV detection using the kit.
On October 5, 2026, GreenArray Labs, located in Pune, introduced CerviSense, a groundbreaking vaginal self-sampling kit designed to facilitate cervical cancer screening for women. This innovative product enables users to collect their own samples without the need for a speculum, thus making the process more user-friendly and accessible.
Cervical cancer screening is crucial as it helps in early detection of high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV), a major contributor to cervical cancer. The launch of CerviSense is expected to empower women by providing them with a convenient option for screening. The samples collected by users will be sent to laboratories for testing, where they will be analyzed for the presence of high-risk HPV strains.
A study published in September 2025 in Frontiers in Medical Technology highlighted the effectiveness of self-sampling methods. It compared 203 samples collected by women themselves with those collected by clinicians, revealing an impressive sensitivity of 98 percent and specificity of 99.4 percent for HPV detection. These findings underscore the reliability of the CerviSense kit in identifying HPV, which is essential for cervical cancer prevention.
The introduction of CerviSense is expected to have significant implications for women's health in India. By making cervical cancer screening more accessible, it could lead to increased participation in screening programs, ultimately reducing the incidence of cervical cancer. This initiative aligns with global efforts to enhance women's health and promote preventive healthcare measures.
Looking ahead, GreenArray Labs plans to expand the availability of the CerviSense kit across various regions in India. The company is also exploring partnerships with healthcare providers to facilitate education and awareness campaigns about the importance of regular cervical cancer screening and the use of self-sampling kits.
