The ongoing Ebola outbreak in eastern Congo has reached a staggering total of 60 affected health zones, according to the latest figures from the government. The outbreak has spread to two new areas, Biena and Manguredjipa, in North Kivu Province, where the case fatality rate significantly exceeds the overall rate of 48%.
As of now, there are 5,794 confirmed cases of Ebola, with a tragic toll of 2,786 deaths. The rapid spread of the virus is outpacing containment efforts, prompting urgent calls for enhanced response measures from health authorities.
