Toxic's Box Office Plunge: A Dramatic Day 2 Decline
The much-anticipated film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, directed by Geetu Mohandas and starring Yash, has experienced a notable decline in its box office performance on its second day. After an impressive opening day where it grossed over Rs 100 crore, the film's earnings dropped by a staggering 64%, bringing in only Rs 36.40 crore on Thursday. This drop is significant, especially considering the film had a strong start, with a total of Rs 137.50 crore collected in its first two days.
Why This Matters:
The film's performance is particularly interesting as it has shown varied reception across different languages. While the Hindi version has outperformed the original Kannada, the Telugu adaptation has also contributed positively to the overall earnings. However, the Tamil and Malayalam versions have not fared as well, indicating a mixed response from audiences.
In comparison, Toxic faced competition from Dhurandhar: The Revenge, which had a much stronger second-day collection of Rs 80.72 crore. Despite this, Toxic managed to surpass the second-day earnings of its predecessor, which earned Rs 32 crore. The film's opening day was marked by high occupancy rates, but the sharp decline raises questions about its long-term viability in theaters.
As the film continues to attract viewers, it will be essential to monitor its performance in the coming days, especially in light of the mixed reviews it has received regarding its themes and execution.
