Ajay Devgn recently addressed the significant discussions surrounding his upcoming film, Drishyam 3, during its trailer launch in Goa. He clarified that the Hindi adaptation is not merely a reworked version of the Malayalam film starring Mohanlal. Devgn emphasized that both films possess entirely different narratives and scripts, marking a clear distinction between them.
In his remarks, Devgn explained that while the first two installments of the Hindi series drew inspiration from the original Malayalam franchise, Drishyam 3 represents a shift from that approach. He stated, "This film is a big challenge for us... But this is the first film that has a completely different script." He expressed eagerness for Mohanlal to view the film, hoping for his approval and appreciation.
The Malayalam Drishyam 3, directed by Jeethu Joseph, continues the story of Georgekutty, while the Hindi version takes a unique path with a fresh narrative centered around Vijay Salgaonkar. This film is produced by Star Studio18 and Panorama Studios, with Abhishek Pathak at the helm. It follows Salgaonkar, portrayed by Devgn, as he navigates a murder investigation that threatens his family.
The Hindi Drishyam franchise began in 2015 with a successful remake of the Malayalam thriller, which resonated well with audiences, grossing approximately Rs 110 crore globally. Its sequel, Drishyam 2, released in 2022, further expanded the storyline and proved to be an even greater success, amassing nearly Rs 342 crore worldwide. As both versions progress with their respective third installments, Devgn hopes to gain the approval of Mohanlal, the original star who has captivated Indian audiences.
