Vedanta Ltd has reported a remarkable net profit of Rs 6,202 crore for the quarter ending September 2026, marking a 151% increase compared to the same quarter last year. This surge in profit is attributed to the company's strong operational performance across its core sectors. Additionally, Vedanta declared its first interim dividend of Rs 5 per share, further enhancing shareholder value.
The company achieved its highest quarterly revenue ever, amounting to Rs 25,812 crore, which is a 57% increase from the corresponding period in the previous year. This impressive financial performance is underpinned by significant growth in various segments, particularly in mining and metals, which have shown resilience in a fluctuating market.
Vedanta's earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) more than doubled, reaching Rs 9,938 crore, reflecting a 106% year-on-year increase. The EBITDA margin expanded to 60%, a notable improvement of 1,055 basis points from the same quarter last year. The company's net debt also saw a reduction of Rs 4,624 crore, bringing it down to Rs 3,675 crore, primarily due to strong cash flow from operations.
The performance of Vedanta's Zinc India division was particularly noteworthy, with mined metal production hitting a record 271 kilotonnes, a 5% increase compared to the previous year. Silver production also rose by 20% to 173 tonnes, while the cost of production for Zinc India decreased significantly, reaching its lowest level since the transition to underground mining. However, international zinc operations experienced a decline in production, which the company is addressing through strategic investments.
Looking ahead, Vedanta is set to continue its growth trajectory with ongoing projects, including the commissioning of its copper rod plant in Saudi Arabia. The company’s shares rose by 3.3% following the announcement of these results, reflecting positive investor sentiment. With a market capitalization nearing Rs 91,100 crore, Vedanta is well-positioned for future developments in the mining and metals sector.
