In September 2026, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles achieved domestic sales of 68,810 units, reflecting a robust growth of 15.32% compared to 59,667 units sold in the same month last year. This figure also indicates a sequential rise of 5.45% from August 2026, when sales stood at 65,253 units. The September results contributed to Tata's highest-ever quarterly performance, with total sales exceeding 2 lakh units during the July to September period.

The growth in sales is attributed to a strong demand for Tata's electric vehicles (EVs) and compressed natural gas (CNG) models, which together accounted for 51% of the total sales. Shailesh Chandra, the Managing Director and CEO of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, noted that the Tata Punch emerged as the top-selling SUV in India for the quarter, highlighting the brand's competitive edge in the market.

Tata's electric vehicle sales surged by 67.38%, with 15,384 units sold in September compared to 9,191 units a year earlier. This increase underscores the growing consumer preference for EVs, which now represent approximately 21.91% of Tata's total monthly passenger vehicle sales, up from 15.09% in September 2025. The overall sales growth was significantly bolstered by the contribution of EVs, which accounted for nearly 39% of the total volume increase.

For the July to September quarter, Tata Motors reported total passenger vehicle sales of 2,01,723 units, marking a substantial increase of 39.70% from the previous year's figure of 1,44,397 units. Domestic sales alone rose by 40.29%, reaching 1,96,674 units, while exports also saw a notable increase of 19.99%, totaling 5,049 units. This impressive performance indicates strong customer demand across Tata's diverse vehicle portfolio.

Looking ahead, Tata Motors is poised to capitalize on its momentum as it enters the festive season. With record sales figures and a growing emphasis on electric and CNG vehicles, the company aims to further enhance its market presence. The upcoming months will be crucial for Tata as it continues to adapt to shifting consumer preferences and regulatory changes in the automotive industry.
